Why a good tray smells of almost nothing
Odour is a moisture problem before it is an air problem. Step through the diagram to see where each part of the setup does its work.
1. Moisture is captured
Ammonia smell comes from liquid breaking down. Our granules pull that liquid in within seconds, so there is far less free moisture sitting in the tray.

About the name
Kattebak is Dutch, and slightly old fashioned
Historical Dutch kattebak refers to a cat's toilet. Modern Dutch spells it kattenbak, with the extra n, and that is the word you will see on a bag of litter in a Dutch supermarket today.
We kept the older spelling because it is shorter, easier to say in English and carries a bit of the plain-spoken practicality we wanted for the brand. A box for a cat. Nothing more complicated than that.
